The NewSicily Team consists of the founders: Nicola Scardina and Gabriele Giovanni Vernengo.
Nicola Scardina
Nicola Scardina, an IT enthusiast, currently works as a freelance webmaster.
From 2017 to 2021, he collaborated with the Settimanale di Bagheria, for which he wrote articles and interviews covering various topics, from cultural events such as book presentations and films by emerging directors and actors, to more serious issues like environmental protection.
In May 2021, he co-founded NewSicily with Gabriele Vernengo, an information portal dedicated to Sicily.
From 2021 to 2023, he managed SiciliaHub.it, an information portal dedicated to Sicily, founded by Emanuele Fragasso.
From 2022 to 2024, he collaborated with the online newspaper Palermo Post, writing articles on current events, culture, and the economy.
Gabriele Giovanni Vernengo
Gabriele Giovanni Vernengo has written for various newspapers in Sicily before joining ‘Voce Contro Corrente’, a Christian-inspired newspaper, where he worked as an editor for one year.
Currently, he is an editor at the online daily ‘Live Sicilia’, one of the most widely followed newspapers in Sicily, for which he writes news articles.
